We are passionate about education. We provide Education and Handouts for veterinarians (and veterinary students, and veterinary nurses) who wish to obtain CPD points and learn more about cancer in animals. Additionally, we host regular Events and Workshops throughout the year, including Free Veterinary Oncology Online Continuing Education and Chemotherapy Workshops.

In Brisbane, Dr. Cat Chan offers veterinarians a Mobile Oncology and Ultrasound Service.

For pet owners seeking veterinary oncologist advice for their pet with cancer, please ask your veterinarian to contact us. Regrettably, in compliance with veterinary licensing legislation and legal requirements, we cannot provide online pet cancer advice to pet owners or the general public. We offer online advice exclusively to your veterinarian, who has access to your pet's medical records and can physically examine and care for your pet. We have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions and Useful Links for pet owners who wish to learn more about cancer in pets.

Dr. Catherine Chan BVSc (Hons I) FANZCVS (Veterinary Oncology) Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology)

Board-Certified & Registered Specialist in Veterinary Oncology Q4941

I graduated in 2009 from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. I began my veterinary career by completing a small animal rotating internship at Veterinary Specialist Services in Brisbane, followed shortly by work in small animal emergency and general practice. In 2012, I moved to Sydney to complete a three-year veterinary oncology residency program at the Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush. Since then, I have worked at several specialist referral hospitals in Brisbane. I have also spent time in the USA at the University of Missouri and Colorado State University. I am a board-certified specialist in veterinary oncology with both the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM).

I’m passionate about research in veterinary oncology and have had the privilege of contributing to the field through over ten peer-reviewed publications. I also had the opportunity to author a chapter in the latest edition of Ettinger's Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine. My work has been recognised with several research awards, which motivates me to continue advancing the understanding and treatment of cancer in pets.

Cancer can be a debilitating and challenging time for pets and their owners. My top priority is providing the best possible evidence-based and compassionate recommendations for pets with cancer. I am dedicated to finding ways to improve remission and survival for pets while striving to maintain the highest quality of life for each individual.

Outside of work, I am busy looking after my three young and highly energetic children and my two cats. Balancing my busy career with family life brings me joy and keeps me grounded and inspired.
